I had been suffering with Burning Mouth Syndrome for over two years. I went from
specialist to specialist until it was finally diagnosed, and each specialist (ENT, dentist
of all specialties, allergists, internists, infectious disease specialists, neurologists,
professors, pain management) tried different medications. I had given up and
thought that I would just have to live with this until wither I “got used to the pain” or it
miraculously disappeared.
Dr. Markman and the other doctors and students changed my life…..and I am so
grateful! Taking Clonazepam 4 times daily, keeping a constant level in my blood stream
has made all the difference. I am forever grateful for those kind and compassionate,
knowledgeable and wonderful people.

More than 7 years ago I had a toothache and went to a dentist. He sent me to an oral
surgeon for root canal treatment. After three attempts the pain was still there in my
lower jaw. Finally I had the tooth pulled. The pain was still there. I could not find relief
any ware.
I was finally referred to the TMJ Center. I was given Nortriptyline. As I gradually
increased the dosage of that medication as per Dr. Markman’s suggestion, I was able to
get off Lexapro, Lorazepan and Ambien. So after years of suffering, I feel great!!!!!
